Craig Renshaw was most recently MD of Empire Theatres’ We Will Rock You, Mamma Mia!, and the Matt Ward Entertainment/HOTA season of Wicked on the Gold Coast. His other repertoire is extensive and includes Aladdin, Amahl & the Night Visitors, Annie, Anything Goes, Beauty & the Beast, Brigadoon, Chess, Die Fledermaus, El Retablo de Maese Pedro, Evita, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Hired Man, Into the Woods, Jerry’s Girls, Kismet, Les Miserables, Love Never Dies, Man of La Mancha, Mary Poppins, The Medium, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma!, Oliver!, The Producers, Romance/Romance, Shenandoah, Showboat, Sunday in the Park with George, Titanic and Zorba!.
Assistant/Associate MD: Cats (Seoul/Shanghai), Cats - Runaway to the Circus (Australian big top tour), Grease - the mega musical (Australian tour), Gypsy (The Production Company, Melbourne), The Lion King (original Sydney season), Miss Saigon (Hong Kong/Singapore), The Phantom of the Opera (Melbourne [2006], Beijing [2015] Hong Kong [2014], Istanbul, Taipei [2005/2008/2014] South Korea: Daegu, Seoul, Singapore [2006]. He relished working with Simon Gallaher and the late, great Jon English on Essgee's Pirates of Penzance (National tour) and also The Production Co’s version in Melbourne.
As Musical Director: Girl Crazy (Neglected Musicals), Jesus Christ Superstar (NDAC), the Australian premiere of Kiss of the Spider Woman (Darlinghurst Theatre Company), Man of Steel (NDAC), Me and My Girl (Neglected Musicals), Nick and Nora (Neglected Musicals), No Way to Treat a Lady (Darlinghurst Theatre Co.), Rags (workshop), Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show in Seoul, Singapore, and New Zealand (Tim Lawson), Side by Side by Sondheim (Enda Markey Presents).
In cabaret Craig accompanied Marika Aubrey in her show “Redhead” at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Megan Carratti & Andrew Threlfall “Morally Bankrupt” at Melbourne’s Butterfly Club, toured regionally with Peter Cousens' “A Life on Earth”, Margi de Ferranti and Leonie Page “Do Gentlemen Prefer Blondes?”, Claire Lyon "Songs from Stage and Screen", Tyran Parke’s charming “Since You Stayed Here", the diva Anita Plateris in “Now, Back to Me” at The Stables. Two seasons with Rick Lau at Hong Kong's Fringe Club, a run at M on the Bund in Shangahi, and the pair were invited to be part of Fly Entertainment’s Camp Comedy Festival @ Zouk in Singapore. He has been MD for the STC Cabaret, Tilbury Revisited and appeared at the SydneyCabaret Convention and many other events and corporate appearances.
On the concert stage Mr Renshaw conducted All You Need is Love at the Sydney Opera House. He regularly conducts the Sydney International Orchestra and has guest conductor for the Australian Pops Orchestra, Brisbane
Pops Orchestra, Canberra Symphony Orchestra, Dublin Symphony and Perth Symphony. For ten years Craig has conducted Peter Byrne’s acclaimed recreation of the Neil Diamond Hot August Night concert around Australia and overseas.
He co-conceived, orchestrated and conducted large scale gala concerts and had the privilege of working with many great artists and creators. With Trevor Ashley and David (Dot) Wilkins, Craig conducted the highly acclaimed series of concerts for World AIDS Day paying tribute to the work and music of Peter Allen, Elton John, Stephen Sondheim and Judy Garland (ACON), and a tribute to Jerry Herman for Oz Showbiz Cares’ Hats Off. As musician he has been pianist/keyboardist for headline acts Michael Ball, David Campbell, Anthony Warlow and Faith Prince. Mr Renshaw was also conductor and pianist for Lorna Luft at the Power of Humanity Ball for the Red Cross in Melbourne. Other charity work includes Light the Night, Voices for
Peace (Inter-Educare), and an all-star gala Side by Side... (White Ribbon Foundation).
Television: Australian Idol (Ch.10) including backing Michael Buble, The Jackson Five, Susan Boyle, Liza Minnelli. Midday, Today and The X Factor.
